at patmos the doors are closing. thoughts of ancient battles spring immediately to mind: the shimmering of constellations on the black waters. rhythmic creaking - silent rowing. the taking of a gallery under cover of darkness - by hook or by crook. the strategy commences. at the final moment we, weighed down by our chains, watch as the bronze colossus topples... its crown illuminated... to din of distant roar... streams of inky water penetrate in an awesome flood - beams of wood and tar... a surprise attack shattering the hull.
black seaweed... shackled feet... a black octopus with a single eye awaits us below.
